Michelle Star, Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor, Integrative Yoga Therapist®, Reiki Master, Integrated Energy Practitioner

Michelle Star has had a long partnership with Yoga having taught since 1985 (study began in 1970) giving her a vast well of knowledge and experience for offering Yoga as a therapeutic tool for children and adults. Michelle received her teacher training and certification from Kripalu Yoga and Health Center in the Berkshires of Massachusetts in 1995 and in 1997 obtained certification as an Integrative Yoga Therapist. In 2005, she received training in Yoga for special needs children in Evanston, Illinois and teaches special needs as well as able children and adults. She studied dance (ballet, jazz) for 11 years, DansKinetics (at Kripalu) and graduated LCCC with a physical education major. She has taught at the collegiate and national levels, in elementary schools, and presented the Yoga Therapy classes for The Cleveland Clinic study entitled, “The Impact of Yoga on a Chronic Pain Population.” This study revealed that Yoga practice yields statistically significant results. She continues as an employee of the Clinic teaching Yoga to employees at outlying Clinic facilities.

Michelle has worked with children and students preschool through age 21 that have been diagnosed somewhere along the autism spectrum. She has partnered with the Master’s Speech Pathologist giving Yoga classes at the Children’s Developmental Center in Amherst for nearly 5 years. More recently, Michelle has taught Yoga to combined classes of able and autistic children at several of the schools in Amherst with excellent results.

Having traveled throughout Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania, she has given Yoga and Reiki continuing education seminars for physical and occupational therapists to integrate Yoga techniques into their workplace and personal lives. She made two professional, 4-hour Yoga DVDs (one for general, one for children) for which purchasers can receive continuing education units. She has received training in Integrated Energy Therapy (channeling Angelic healing energy) and has seen great results from this modality. Michelle embraces her healing work as a Reiki Master Teacher (Master certification 1996) observing profound results over the span of more than a decade. She has herself greatly benefited physically, mentally and spiritually from the practice of Yoga for 40 years and now she shares with participants at this Center.

Lori Madzelonka

Reiki Practitioner, Crystal Card Reader

Lori is trained as a Registered Nurse with 24 years' experience, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from The Ohio State University. She currently works as a surgical nurse, as she has for many years. Dissatisfied with the current Western philosophy and practice of treating disease and not the whole person, Lori's belief in total mind, body, and spiritual wellness has led her to study and incorporate many alternative modalities in the pursuit of health promotion and maintenance. She has been a Reiki practitioner since 2006, schooled in the Usui tradition, and feels that this flow of Universal Energy has changed her life. She also works extensively with crystals, soon to offer Crystal Card readings, and employs the diverse and powerful Crystal Kingdom in her practice of energy work. Lori also has been reading the Tarot for over 20 years and is a student of metaphysics and all things spiritual. Lori is an avid gardener, and enjoys communing with Nature. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve humanity as a healer, and thankful to be able to share her gifts with others. A longtime member of the community, Lori lives in Berea with her husband and cat.

Sally Herman

Certified Reflexologist and Reiki Master

Sally has worked as a Certified Reflexologist since 2001 and is a member of the Reflexology Association of Ohio. Sally enjoys working with people and is committed to helping others feel better naturally. She, too, knows that Reflexology is an approach to better health. She has always been interested in and taken courses in alternative health and continues to upgrade her knowledge with continuing classes. She is a Reiki Master, enjoys meditation and nature.

Melissa Thomas Edington

Certified Zumba Instructor, Master Dance Instructor and Choreographer, Children's Movement Instructor

After graduating from Padua in 1997, Melissa attended the University of Akron, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. From there, Melissa danced her way around the world while working aboard Holland America Cruise Line. In 2003, Melissa moved to New York City to continue pursuing a career in Musical theatre. Soon after she arrived, Melissa was fortunate to land a role in the ensemble of the Japanese and North American Tour of the Broadway musical “42nd Street.” Shortly after the tour, one of Melissa’s biggest dreams was realized when she became a Radio City Rockette. As a Rockette, Melissa has performed in many cities, including Chicago and Pittsburgh, as well as in New York at Radio City Music Hall. In 2007, she helped celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular by performing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and on the Today Show. Melissa has performed regionally at Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, and toured with a 70’s revue concert (Solid Gold Dance Party), starring the Village People and many other artists from the Disco Era. Melissa is a member of both the Actor’s Equity Association (AEA) and the American Guild of Variety Artists (AGVA). Outside of performing, Melissa also enjoys teaching, choreographing, and judging for dance competitions. She serves as the co-director of ASPIRE National Dance and Scholarship Convention. Since returning to Ohio, Melissa has taught at many area dance studios and is especially proud to be teaching at the dance studio where she grew up, Charlotte Braun dance studio in Parma Heights. This past September, Melissa was certified to teach Zumba, and is very excited to bring her passion for fitness to the Michelle Star Yoga and Healing Arts!

Kay Hall

Through the use of Astrology, my intention is and has always been to help people realize their true goals and to assist them in making the transition from where they are now to where they would like to be.

I believe that every person is born with a life purpose. That purpose is sometimes hidden, but it can be discovered if you allow yourself to become aware of it...to “see” it with your minds eye…and if you permit yourself…make your dreams a reality.

My goal is to help people go within so as to find this core happiness that we all have been given. Through the use of Astrology, I’ll show you how to get in touch with that all knowing higher self…the self that knows you better than anyone else in the world.

I have been studying and practicing astrology since 1977. Astrology can be a marvelous predictive tool. The planets are always telling a very interesting story when correlated to your birth chart. But my real interest in Astrology developed out of a desire to understand the human psyche and the Soul’s Evolutionary path. This is referred to as Esoteric Astrology. Using this method, I am able to create psychological and spiritual profiles for my clients. And they are then able to realize their natural talents and strengths so that they may work to the best of their ability, through their challenges of life.

For the past 10 years, I have worked with Jungian Therapist John Rehak, guiding people in finding their soul’s path in life. Their therapy is supplemented by learning about their astrological blueprint, and connecting them with higher energies that can assist them in their goals and objectives.

Ted Smith

Ted Smith has studied Internal Martial Arts such as Bagwa Zhang, Xing Yi, Qi Gong and Tai Chi since 1991. His studies have lead him to collaborations with Acupuncturists, Herbalists, Western MDs, spiritual teachers, and other martial art practitioners. He worked for 13 years in Wisconsin, helping people with chronic conditions such as Arthritis, Asthma, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, and MS. He recently moved to the Cleveland Area where he continues to show people how to naturally balance chronic conditions through Asian exercise. Ted is not really new to the area as his collegiate education was at Baldwin-Wallace College and he graduated with a Bachelor's in Speech Communication and Theater, with Broadcasting and Psychology emphasis.

Gail Albers

Gail has been working as an Licensed Massage Therapist since 2000. She has certification in Cranial-sacral energy work which she has offered for the last five years in addition to having trained as a Reiki practitioner. She works with hot stone massage to enhance the healing experience. Gail's goal is to make your experience at Michelle Star’s Studio the best it can be. Every client is honored as a unique individual, and your confidentiality is held in highest regard. Caring, intuitive hands are the most important tools used to rejuvenate your body and inner spirit. Using finesse rather than force, Gail moves into the deeper tissues in a way that provides relief not only from physical discomfort, but also the underlying mental and emotional components. Her passion is to bring people to a greater understanding of their own bodies.
